Adalbert Metzinger (Benedictine)
Adalbert Metzinger OSB , born Josef Metzinger (born March 17, 1910 in Ottersweier ; † October 11, 1984 in Weingarten ) was a German Benedictine and abbot of Weingarten Monastery .
Life
Born as Josef Metzinger, he entered the Benedictine monastery in Beuron after graduating from high school , where he took the religious name Adalbert. After studying theology , he was ordained a priest in 1935 . In 1959 he became prior of the newly founded Las Condes Monastery in Chile . In 1974 he was elected abbot of Weingarten Abbey. On March 9, 1975, he received by Carl Joseph Leiprecht the benediction . In 1982 Abbot Adalbert's resignation, which he had to submit in accordance with the statutes of the congregation on his 70th birthday, was accepted.
