Adalberto Santiago Berríos (born April 23, 1937 in Ciales ) is a Puerto Rican singer .

Life

Alberto Santiago Berríos was born in the Pozas neighborhood of Ciales , Puerto Rico. He has sung choir on many recordings in New York studios. He started his career with trios, he also played bass and guitar . After working with bands from Chuíto Vélez , Willie Rodríguez and Willie Rosario , he joined Ray Barretto's band. Between 1966 and 1972 he recorded seven albums with him. At the end of 1972 he founded Típica 73 with four other band members . They recorded three albums before he and three other band members formed Los Kimbos . He sang on the Charanga albums Fantasia Africana / African Fantasy and Our Heritage - Nuestra Herencia by the flutist , composer and producer Lou Pérez .

With Los Kimbos Adalberto recorded the album Los Kimbos in 1976 and The Big Kimbos With Adalberto Santiago the following year . He made his debut as a soloist with Adalberto , who was produced by Ray Barretto and for whom he composed two pieces himself. Los Kimbos released two more albums under the direction of timbaleros Orestes Vilató - Hoy y Mañana (1978) and Aquacero Ne Me Moja (1979). Santiago was the lead singer on a song on the album Louie Ramírez y sus Amigos by Louie Ramírez . 1979 Adalberto and Ramírez produced his second solo album, Adalberto Featuring Popeye El Marino . In the same year he teamed up again with Ray Barretto for Rican / Struction . Ray produced Adalberto's next solo album, Feliz Me Siento , the following year. Javier Vázquez from Sonora Matancera produced, arranged, played the piano and directed the band. In 1982 he teamed up with Bongocero and band leader Roberto Roena for Super Apollo . Santiago co-produced Calidad with Papo Lucca , who also played piano, he arranged a piece and took over the musical direction. Cosas Del Alma was an album with Boleros . In 1985 he turned back more to salsa from Más Sabroso .

Isidro Infante produced, arranged, played the piano and was the musical director for Sex Symbol . Santiago also wrote songs for other musicians, such as Joe Cuba .
