Adam Augustyn

Adam Augustyn (born January 1, 1936 in Krakow ; † February 28, 2016 there ) was a Polish novelist .

Life

Augustyn lived in Kraków during World War II , where he graduated from elementary school in 1949 and high school in 1954 . During this time he was a member of the Union of Polish Youth ( Związek Młodzieży Polskiej ). From 1953 to 1956 he worked as an administrative clerk and then took up a degree in Polish Studies at the College of Teacher Education ( Studium Nauczycielskie ) in Cracow and later at the Pedagogical University in Cracow. As early as 1955 he became a member of the youth group of the Kraków Department of the Union of Polish Writers . As a poet he made his debut in 1956 with the poem Czemu w jesieni , which was published in Życie Literackie , and in 1959 as a prose writer with the story Trzy czerwone krzyże , which was also published in Życie Literackie . In the following years he worked in various fields, as an educator, as an unskilled worker in car workshops, as an economist and as an assistant in the National Museum in Krakow . He published features and reports from 1968 to 1984 in the Krakow magazine Wieści . From 1967 to 1983 he was a member of the Union of Polish Writers.
