Adam Dietrich (botanist)
Adam Dietrich (born November 4, 1711 in Ziegenhain ; † July 11, 1782 there ) was a German botanist .
Live and act
Dietrich was a farmer . He was probably trained in herbalism by his father-in-law. Self-taught, he acquired extensive botanical knowledge. In 1742 he got to know the botanist Albrecht von Haller personally and worked on the preliminary studies for the new edition by Heinrich Bernhard Rupps Flora Jenensis .
The botanist Carl von Linné began a scientific exchange with Dietrich, as a result of which other scholars also sought contact with him. In the most important contemporary botanical journals, his extensive botanical knowledge is repeatedly referred to.
Dietrich was the grandfather of the botanist and garden designer Johann Christian Gottlieb Dietrich .
