The Mont Aubert is a 1339 m high ridge in the Swiss Jura . The summit is on the municipality of Bonvillars in the canton of Vaud , around 10 km north-northeast of Yverdon-les-Bains . The community of Concise has a major share in the height of Mont Aubert . The ridge is partly wooded in the ridge area, partly made up of pastures; the slopes are covered with thick forest.

location

In contrast to the Jura mountain ranges of the region, which are oriented in the south-west-north-east direction, Mont Aubert shows a west-east orientation. The ridge slopes steeply to the south and relatively gently to the east to Lake Neuchâtel . The northern boundary is the Les Rochats basin, which is drained to Lake Neuchâtel by the Vaux brook . To the west, the Mont Aubert merges into the ridge of the Thévenon .

geology

From a structural geological point of view, the ridge of Mont Aubert represents the anticline of the Folded Jurassic , which is closest to the Mittelland , the rock material of which comes from marine sediments of the Upper Jurassic ( Malm ). Mont Aubert can be described as the eastern continuation of the Suchet - Aiguilles de Baulmes anticline, which, however, is not very pronounced in the Bullet area and is largely integrated into the main anticline of the Chasseron - Soliat chain.
