Adam James Hammill (born January 25, 1988 in Liverpool ) is an English football player who is under contract with Scunthorpe United .

Career

Hammill began his career at Liverpool FC's youth academy , where he joined in 1995 as a 7-year-old. With the youth team of the Reds he won the 2006 FA Youth Cup . Hammill is described as an extravagant and creative midfielder. The Englishman can play on the sides or as a hanging tip. The midfielder has good technique, is quick and has a good start. Many of his admirers compared Hammill early on to players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Joe Cole . Internationally, he played six times for the English U-19 team and scored two goals. On January 18, 2007, the Englishman moved to Scotland on loan to Dunfermline Athletic . With the Scots he reached the final of the Scottish Cup in 2007.

Further loan positions were then Southampton FC (July 2007 to March 2008) and Blackpool FC (July 2008 to the end of 2008), before he brought the season to an end at Barnsley FC as a loan player from February 2008 . On August 10, 2009 he signed a new three-year contract with the latter club. According to media reports, there was a release clause in the contract that allowed him to make another move for a fixed transfer fee of 500,000 pounds. The Wolverhampton Wanderers did this in January 2011 and signed Hammill for another 3½ years.

On June 25, 2013 Hammill moved to the second division Huddersfield Town . He then played on loan at Rotherham United . From 2015 Hammill played for Barnsley FC for three years before moving to Scotland for St. Mirren FC . In January 2019, Hammill moved to Scunthorpe United .
