Career

society

Kwarasey, the son of a Ghanaian and a Norwegian, began playing football at Trosterud IL . He later transferred to Aalesunds FK and Vålerenga Oslo . After moving to Strømsgodset IF , he - meanwhile in the professional squad - was used for the first time in the Tippeligaen on May 6, 2007 . He has been a regular goalkeeper at Strømsgodset since 2010. That season, the club won the Norwegian Cup, so that Kwarasey came on July 28 and August 4, 2011 against Atlético Madrid to two appearances in qualifying for the UEFA Europa League .

On January 1, 2015, he moved to the US MLS for the Portland Timbers .

In 2013 he became - now as team captain - Norwegian champion with Strømsgodset. He was also voted the best goalkeeper in the league. In April 2013 he played his hundredth league game for Strømsgodset.

National team

On June 12, 2008 Kwarasey came in the game against Iceland for his only use for the U-21 selection of Norway . He came on for Andreas Lie in the 86th minute and conceded the only Norwegian goal in stoppage time to make it 4-1.

After the world football association FIFA had approved a change of citizenship in June 2011, Kwarasey was nominated for the first time for an international match for the Ghana national team in the following month ; the game against Nigeria, scheduled for August 9, was postponed for two months. On September 2, 2011 Kwarasey made his debut in the national team in the 2-0 win over Swaziland ; in the 1-0 defeat against Brazil three days later, Kwarasey played his second A international match.

As a regular goalkeeper of the Ghanaian national team, Kwarasey took part in the 2012 African Cup of Nations. From 2013, however, under coach James Kwesi Appiah , Fatau Dauda was usually preferred.
