Adam Thirlwell

Adam Thirlwell (born August 22, 1978 in London ) is a British writer and literary scholar.

Life

Thirlwell was educated at the private Haberdashers 'Aske's Boys' School in Elstree and then went to New College , Oxford to study English . There he received various awards for his essays and achieved an excellent final exam. He was then elected a Fellow of All Souls College , Oxford. During this time he was co-editor of the British literary magazine Areté . In 2011 he was Samuel Fischer visiting professor for literature at the Free University of Berlin .

His first novel from 2003, Politics , caused a sensation and was published in Germany in 2004. His collection of quotes from other books Miss Herbert , however, was controversial among British critics. His 2015 novel Lurid & Cute has been nominated for the Goldsmiths Prize .
