Adam Wehsely-Swiczinsky (born June 25, 1971 ) is an Austrian industrial designer, guitar maker and musician.

Life

Adam Wehsely-Swiczinsky is the son of Hilda and Helmut Swiczinsky with siblings Nana Swiczinsky and Benjamin Swiczinsky . He is married to Tanja Wehsely and has one son.

education

After graduating from the alternative secondary school ESL Coop, Wehsely-Swiczinsky attended Bundesrealgymnasium II in Vereinsgasse from 1986 to 1990, from which he graduated with the Matura . Between 1990 and 1994 he worked as a self-taught instrument maker, musician and carpenter. In 1999, the external apprenticeship final examination for the carpentry apprenticeship followed. From 1994 to 2000 he studied industrial design at the University of Applied Arts Vienna , from which he graduated in 2000 with honors as Mag. Art. In 2017 he completed his external training as a master plucked and stringed instrument maker.

Even before graduating from the University of Applied Arts Vienna in 2000, Adam Wehsely-Swiczinsky worked in architecture offices as a designer & model maker, stand builder and carpenter. He then founded the industrial design studio AWS design team . From 2000 to 2003 he was the head of the design department for ski bindings at TYROLIA (HTM sports and leisure equipment). Wehsely-Swiczinsky has received numerous design prizes. In exhibitions and fairs, such as presentations by PAD goes international in New York, Tokyo, London and Barcelona, ​​in 2008 at Design Match 08 in Prague, at the Palermo Design Week , and in 2009 and 2011 at the Vienna Design Week , his products and Drafts exhibited. He has been running the guitar manufacturing company Mada Guitars since 2017.

Wehsely-Swiczinsky started his musical career at the age of 13 with Florian Prix, among others. After his own compositions in the grunge era with the group Moon 44, Adam Wehsely-Swiczinsky accompanied Şivan Perwer & Willi Resetarits on bass and played guitar in the synthpop group at least in a box . Wehsely-Swiczinsky plays guitar with Hornyphon and bass and vocals with Extra: Gone. At the end of 2010 he founded the music project Goatmen with Florian Prix, and in early 2013 their first album "Before it Rains" was released.

From 2013 to 2017 Wehsely-Swicinsky was chairman of the parents' association of the Erich Fried Gymnasium. He is manager of the expert cluster for industrial design at Design Austria, and since September 2017 chairman of the Initiative Neue Wirtschaft.

Teaching

In the years 200-2003 the designer taught industrial design for plastic technicians at the TGM Technological Trade Museum , from 2002 to 2005 he taught as a lecturer in industrial design at the University of Applied Arts Vienna , class of Prof. Bořek Šípek. Since March 2020 Wehsely-Swiczinsky has been teaching industrial design in the course "human factor and sports engineering" at the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien
