Adama Tamba (born on August 29, 1998 in Banjul ) is a Gambian soccer player .

Life

family

Because the mother of Adama Tamba and her twin sister Awa Tamba died shortly after the birth, an aunt initially looked after them for a short time. They had almost no contact with their father. The two grew up in the SOS Children's Village in Bakoteh . There they went to primary and secondary schools. An older sister also played soccer with the Red Scorpions .

At the beginning of 2017 she lived with her twin sister with her trainer Choro Mbenga in Jeshwang .

In 2009, an older sister of the twins, who played for the Red Scorpions , recommended her siblings to the trainer Choro Mbenga . Both made their debut in the 2010/2011 season and Adama Tamba was the top scorer with twelve goals. The following year she was able to repeat this with 13 goals. In the 2012/2013 season she scored 20 goals in the league games, in the following season she improved her own record with 21 goals.

In 2016, several of their teammates in the Red Scorpions were banned from the Gambia Football Federation for an attack on referees for twelve months and the team had to compete in the second division in the 2016/2017 season. There she scored 50 goals in eleven games.

In October 2017, she was invited to Paris Saint-Germain for a two-week trial training session , but this did not lead to an obligation.

In 2018 she was again the top scorer with 20 goals scored.

In October 2018 she was in talks with the Israeli club FC Ramat Hasharon about a change of club, which did not materialize.

As of the end of December 2018, she had scored a total of 209 goals in the Gambian leagues.

National team

She scored her first goal in a 3-0 win against Sierra Leone when she made her debut in the U-17 selection of the women's national team in January 2012 at the age of 14 . The team qualified for the U-17 Women's World Cup in Azerbaijan , but lost all three group games significantly and came in bottom of the group.

In November 2015, she made her first appearance in the Gambian women's national soccer team in a friendly against Glasgow Girls FC and scored both goals in a 2-0 win.

In qualifying for the Africa Cup of 2018 in April 2018, she scored a goal in a 2-1 win against Burkina Faso . The team was eliminated in the second round against Nigeria , which later won the title.

Awards

In April 2018 she was named Gambian Sportswoman of the Year by the Sports Journalists' Association of The Gambia (SJAG).
