Adan Mohamed Nuur Madobe

Adan Mohamed Nuur Madobe ( Somali Aaden Maxamed Nuur Madoobe , Arabic عدن محمد نور مادوبيادم محمد نور مادوبي) is a Somali politician. He initially served as the first deputy chairman of the Rahanweyn resistance army before joining the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) of Somalia as Minister of Justice and spokesman for the transitional federal parliament . From December 29, 2008 to January 31, 2009, he served briefly as interim president. In January 2014 he was appointed Minister for Industry and Trade.

Life

Madobe was born in Huddur in the Bakool region and belongs to the Hadame clan , a sub-group of the Rahanweyn (Digil-Mirifle).

Career

Rahanweyn Resistance Army

Madobe served as the First Vice-Chairman of the Rahanweyn Resistance Army (RRA), one of the groups in the Somali Civil War . According to Madobe himself, from 1996 the RRA received support from Ethiopia to train the troops. In 2003 Madobe had a falling out with his colleague, RRA leader Hassan Mohamed Nur Shatigadud , even though they later reconciled and served together as ministers in the transitional government (TFG).

Transitional government

In January 2005 Madobe was appointed Minister of Justice of the transitional federal government, making him a member of Prime Minister Ali Mohammed Ghedi's second cabinet .

In May 2005, rival parliamentarian and group leader Muhammad Ibrahim Habsade Madobe and Agriculture Minister Hassan Mohamed Nur Shatigudud accused of attacking the city of Baidoa on behalf of President Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed . The TFG later used the city as a temporary capital. Nineteen people were killed in the fighting.

On January 31, 2007, Madobe was appointed spokesman by parliament. His predecessor was Sharif Hassan Sheikh Adan , who was voted out of office by parliament on January 17, 2007 because of his ties to the Union of Islamic Courts (ICU). Madobe was sworn in on February 3rd.

Madobe later served briefly as executive president after President Yusuf resigned on December 29, 2008. On January 31, 2009, Sharif Sheikh Ahmed was elected President.

Tensions arose between Madobe and Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke in April and May 2010, and Madobe resigned after Parliament voted him out.

On May 25, 2010, Sharif Hassan was reappointed spokesman for the transitional parliament.

Minister for Industry and Trade

On January 17, 2014, Madobe was appointed Minister of Industry and Trade by Prime Minister Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed .
