Adele Mara (born April 28, 1923 in Highland Park , Michigan - † May 7, 2010 in Pacific Palisades , California ; actually Adelaida Delgado ) was an American actress .

Life

Adele Mara danced before she was ten years old. Her talent as a singer was later discovered by Xavier Cugat , in whose orchestra she performed at the age of 15. In 1941 she was briefly signed by Columbia Pictures in Hollywood , received the Pinup Girl of the Year award in 1943 and signed a film contract with Republic Pictures in April of the following year , which lasted until 1951. During her time at Republic she was mainly used as a love interest in numerous B-films . In the 1950s she mostly appeared as a guest star in television series. After 1962 she was only seen twice as an actress. In 1978 she retired from the film business.

In 1954 she married the film and television producer Roy Huggins , with whom she had three children and was married until his death in 2002.
