Adelheid Kuhlmey
Adelheid Kuhlmey (born 1955 in Saxony-Anhalt ) is a German medical sociologist and gerontologist. She is director of the Institute for Medical Sociology and Rehabilitation Science and was Vice Dean for Studies and Teaching at the Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin from 2014 to early 2020 , where she also holds a professorship. She has been a member of the German Ethics Council since 2016 .
Professional background
Kuhlmey studied from 1975 to 1980 at the Humboldt University in Berlin and received his doctorate in 1984 on a social gerontological topic. From 1993 to 1996 she was acting director of the Institute for Medical Sociology of the Medical Faculty of the Charité, before she was appointed professor for the subjects of gerontology and medical sociology at the University of Applied Sciences Neubrandenburg . From 1998 to 2002 she held a professorship for the same subjects at the Braunschweig / Wolfenbüttel University of Applied Sciences . In 2002 she was appointed director of the Institute for Medical Sociology and Rehabilitation Science at the Center for Human and Health Sciences, and has been director of the entire center since 2010. In 2014 the Faculty Council of the Charité elected her as Vice Dean for Studies and Teaching.
research
As a gerontologist, Kuhlmey conducts research on aging and aging and in particular on the topics of health and health promotion in old age and health and nursing care for aging people. She has edited several books on these subjects, such as: B. the nursing reports from 2014 to 2019 and is (co-) author of numerous publications in scientific journals.
