Adenitis
Adenitis ( ancient Greek αδένας adenas , German 'gland' , -itis ending for an inflammatory disease) refers to an inflammation of a gland . Since lymph nodes were also historically referred to as lymph glands , the names for inflammation of the lymph nodes often contain the part of the name adenitis or specifically lymphadenitis .
The most common inflammations of the glands are bacterial , viral or autoimmune .
