Adjutant to the Federal President
The adjutant of the Austrian Federal President is an officer in the federal army . From January 26, 2017, Major General Thomas Starlinger assumed this function .
tasks
The General Staff Officer is primarily responsible for security issues that affect the Federal President , but the actual personal protection is in the hands of the Federal Police . In addition, the adjutant is the link between the Federal President as Commander in Chief of the Federal Army and the Austrian Federal Army. He is at the side of the Federal President both at the reception of foreign delegations in Germany and on trips abroad that require military protocol. The adjutant also heads the adjutant's office in the Hofburg .
