Manfred Mitterbauer

Manfred Mitterbauer (born May 15, 1941 in Vienna ) is a general i. R. of the Austrian Armed Forces .

Military career

In 1959, Mitterbauer moved into the Guard Battalion in Vienna . He headed the high school graduate company in St. Pölten in 1960. From 1960 to 1963 he was trained as an officer at the Theresian Military Academy (TherMilAk) in Wiener Neustadt . In 1963 he directed the 1st hunting command course. As part of the 1st Jägerbrigarde, he led the troops. At the (TherMilAk) he was trained as a teaching officer from 1965 to 1969. He completed general staff training at the National Defense Academy (LVAk) in Vienna. In 1972 he took over the training department in the BMLV and in 1974 the organization department. In 1977 he was deployed to the Golan Heights , Syria, as deputy battalion commander. In 1977 he became Chief of Staff of the 1st PzGrenDiv. In 1982 and 1983 he was chief of staff, deputy force commander and acting force commander at the UNDOF headquarters in Damascus . From 1983 to 1986 he was deputy division commander and chief of staff in the Kdo PzGrenDiv in Baden . He was appointed adjutant to the Federal President in 1986. Then in 1992 he was commandant of the III. Corps. After further positions in the Federal Ministry of Defense and Sport , he retired in 2002.
