Hubertus Trauttenberg (born September 23, 1941 in Salzburg ) is an officer in the Austrian Armed Forces . He was in command of the II Corps in Salzburg, most recently in the rank of general ; from 2006 in command of the Malteser Hospitaldienst Austria (MHDA).

Life

Hubertus Trauttenberg is a member of the Trauttenberg family (noble family) . After completing elementary and secondary school training, he completed his basic service in the reconnaissance force and in 1961 switched to the Theresian Military Academy in Wiener Neustadt . In 1964 he was promoted to lieutenant in the armored force. In the early 1970s he completed the 6th General Staff Course at the National Defense Academy in Vienna and joined the General Staff Service as a consultant. From 1979 Trauttenberg worked in various functions in the Upper Austria military command , including a. as; Commander of the 4th Panzer Grenadier Brigade . In 1996 he moved to the Hofburg as adjutant to Thomas Klestil . In 2001 he was appointed corps commander of the II Corps, replacing Engelbert Lagler . Trauttenberg retired at the end of 2002 as part of the 2002 army reform.

Hubertus Trauttenberg is married; the marriage resulted in four sons and a daughter.

Since his retirement, Trauttenberg has been campaigning for a volunteer army.
