Adolf Bahn

Adolf Bahn (born June 7, 1813 in Berlin , † March 7, 1882 in Wiesbaden ) was a German translator, writer and librettist .

Bahn initially took to the stage as an actor. In 1833 he made his debut at the Dessau Court Theater under director Julius Miller . He then played the young lover in Altenburg and Coburg until he ended his acting career in 1838. Instead he became a playwright and in 1848 the owner of Bahnschen Buchdruckerei in Berlin.

Bahn wrote antics ( A marriage for two hours 1853, Ha, what a pleasure to be a bachelor! 1855), comedies in one ( A recipe for newlyweds 1870) and two ( The Last Honeymoon 1864) files as well as "character pictures " ( Mercadet, der Stock market speculator 1852, Looking for an educator 1870); he translated operettas by Jacques Offenbach and Fournier and edited many French dramas for German theaters. Bahn lived in Wiesbaden from the beginning of the 1860s.
