Adolf Branald
Adolf Branald (born October 4, 1910 in Prague ; † September 28, 2008 there ) was a Czech writer .
Life
Born into a family of actors, he appeared in several films as a child. In 1929 he passed his Abitur at the commercial academy and worked in many professions. In 1938 he was dispatcher at the Moldava / Moldau border station in the Ore Mountains. In 1948 he joined the communist party KSČ . Since 1962 he has been a freelance writer. In 1965 he received the award "Honored Artist of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic". In 1969 he left the party and was no longer allowed to publish his works. In 1996 he received the PEN Club Prize.
