Adolf Grubenmann (born September 23, 1840 in Teufen ; † August 31, 1929 in St. Gallen , reformed , later non-denominational , entitled to live in Teufen) was a Swiss politician (liberal) and doctor .

biography

Adolf Grubenmann, who was born in Teufen on September 23, 1840 as the son of the naturopath and Teufen municipal councilor Daniel Grubenmann, studied medicine at the universities of Zurich , Würzburg , Prague , Vienna and Bern . In Würzburg he joined the Corps Nassovia in 1862 . He completed his studies in 1865 with the acquisition of the academic degree of Dr. med. from. As a result, Grubenmann initially ran a doctor's practice in Teufen based on homeopathic principles, then from 1874 in St. Gallen.

In 1868 Adolf Grubenmann married Hermine, the daughter of Johann Jakob Bruderer. He died on August 31, 1929, three weeks before he would turn 89 in St. Gallen.

Political career

The fight against the federal law on measures against epidemics dangerous to the public of 1882 and the compulsory vaccination formed the basis for his entry into politics. From 1884 to 1886 he represented the Liberal Party in the St. Gallen Grand Council . In addition, he took a seat on the National Council for the canton from 1884 to 1890 . Between 1889 and 1890 he participated in the revision movement for the new cantonal constitution. Then he left politics in favor of his profession.
