Adolf Härtl

Adolf Härtl (born March 31, 1926 in Prague , † January 20, 1976 in Munich ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

Härtl, who spent his youth in Neudek near Karlsbad , worked for the Reichsbahn after going to school until he was drafted into military service in 1943. He came to Bavarian Swabia after the Second World War and his release from American captivity in 1946. After two years as a commercial clerk, he settled there in Donauwörth as a self-employed businessman.

On June 9, 1969, he was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit . On January 20, 1976, Härtl died in a traffic accident in Munich when he was taking the right of way on a bus.

politics

In 1946 Härtl joined the SPD , of which he was district chairman in Donauwörth in the 1950s. In addition, in 1953/54 he was a member of the southern Bavarian district executive and the party's state committee. Jaromír Balcar attests in his study “Politics in the Country” that he shaped the North Swabian SPD more than anyone else in the post-war period.

Since 1952, Härtl was a member of the district council of the Donauwörth district and also chairman of the SPD parliamentary group there. At times he was also a member of the district assembly of Swabia . From 1958 until his resignation on October 24, 1972, he was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament . The latter elected him to the Federal Assembly in 1964 and 1969 . In the state parliament he was a member of the budget and finance committee in addition to other committees. In December 1966 he became managing director of the SPD parliamentary group.

In the 1970s, Härtl was mayor of Harburg until his death .
