Adolf Ihde (born February 22, 1881 in Lübeck , † June 28, 1959 in Sierksdorf ) was a German lawyer and politician.

Life

Ihde, the son of a smokehouse owner, passed his Abitur at Easter 1900 at the secondary school branch of the Katharineum in Lübeck and at that time wanted to study modern languages at the University of Marburg . He soon switched to law studies and, after completing his doctorate, was awarded a Dr. jur. Lawyer and notary in his hometown of Lübeck.

(first) Brunswick lion in the garden of the museum at the cathedral

At the instigation of Willibald Leo von Lütgendorff-Leinburg , who was director of the Museum am Dom at the time , Otto Mantzel worked an artificial basalt block into a free copy approximately the size of the original size of the Braunschweig lion. Consequently it was to be regarded as an original work piece. The pedestal was made of artificial Odenwald sandstone . The unveiling took place on October 9, 1930 at the point in the museum garden that Henry the Lion was likely to have entered first when the cathedral was founded on the wooded hill near the Trave. During the celebration he was presented with the memorial as director of the non-profit society . Ihde volunteered and was its director for the first time from 1927 to 1930. He retired during National Socialism , but was available to the society a second time as director from 1945 to 1949 during the period of the company's reconstruction. The memorial was destroyed in 1942 . In 1975 the Elfriede Dräger Memorial Foundation donated a new copy of the lion and placed it not far from the original location on the other side of the cathedral . However, since there is no reference to the Lübeck previous version, it is almost unknown today.

As a lawyer, he became known as a defense attorney in the much-noticed Calmette trial in 1931 and was also portrayed by the press illustrator Emil Stumpp . He was a member of the Lübeck citizenship, one of the smaller German state parliaments, from 1914 to 1919.
