Adolf-Georg Kiertscher , born Hientz (born December 4, 1942 in Kleinschelken , Transylvania , † May 24, 2015 ) was a German musician, singer and conductor. He directed the Oberland Chapel for 45 years.

Live and act

In 1965 Kiertscher founded the Oberland band, with which he played live music at all kinds of festivals. His repertoire comprised around 700 pieces from popular hits to seafaring songs to folk music. For the 35th anniversary of the band in 2000, 13,000 visitors came to Wilthen. On May 30, 2010, Kiertscher gave his farewell concert on Bautzen's main market with the Oberland band with the cast of Andreas Kahle, Arndt Richter, Peter Hempel and Uwe Sachse. He handed over the management of the chapel to Olaf Hoffmann, who continues it under the new name Olaf and the Oberlanders . Kiertscher had over 16,000 appearances with the Oberland band and recorded 21 CDs. He achieved particular fame with his interpretation of Sierra Madre . Kiertscher lived in Wilthen .

In his retirement, Kiertscher performed at private parties and tastings at the Wilthener Weinbrennerei with keyboard, trumpet and accordion. He also ran an artist agency. Kiertscher lost his voice due to a stroke in 2013 . Two years later he died of the consequences of his illness.

He was married to Rosina Maria Kiertscher and had a daughter.
