Adolf Lohmann

Adolf Lohmann (born January 10, 1907 in Düsseldorf ; † October 19, 1983 ibid) was a German music teacher and composer of church music . Several of his melodies are contained in the praise of God .

Life

Adolf Lohmann worked in Düsseldorf as a music teacher and specialist advisor for school music. In 1937 he was transferred to Goch as a primary school teacher by the National Socialist cultural authority . In 1949 he returned to Düsseldorf.

Lohmann was director of various adult and youth choirs and conducted music weekends and advanced training events for choir directors , especially in Haus Altenberg . During the National Socialist era, he set to music several hymns that had been composed by Georg Thurmair , the secretary of the Catholic Young Men’s Association , and that opposed the prevailing ideology with a dedicated commitment to Christ and the Church.

He worked as editor and editor for Christophorus-Verlag . He published more than a dozen hymn and choir books. 150 songs, 30 canons and around 450 choral and instrumental movements come from his pen.

In 1999 a street in Goch was named after him.
