Karl Heinrich Adolf Meier (born May 10, 1808 in Lübeck ; † June 5, 1896 there ) was a German teacher and draftsman.

Life

Meier was the son of the headmaster Johann Heinrich Meier and the grandson of the Lübeck mayor Christian Adolph Overbeck . During his studies he became a member of the Jena fraternity in 1828 and probably in 1831 in the Kränzchenverein / Burschenschaft Allemannia Berlin . As a PhD Dr. phil. From 1854 to 1874 he headed the private girls' school in Lübeck founded by his father. Before that he worked as a drawing teacher at the school. As a draftsman he was a pupil of Tischbein . He mainly drew views of the city of Lübeck and is therefore also of significance in terms of architectural history for the cityscape of Lübeck's old town as a world heritage site . His documentation of the fire in St. Anne's Monastery in 1843 is well known. He was very interested in ornithology and has been a member of the Association of Friends of Natural History in Mecklenburg since 1852, to whose publications he actively contributed.
