Adolf Papp

Adolf Anton Papp (born March 13, 1915 in Vienna , † October 29, 1983 in Klosterneuburg ) was an Austrian paleontologist .

Papp received his doctorate in paleontology from the University of Vienna in 1939 and completed his habilitation in 1949. From 1939 he was initially a research assistant and later an assistant and senior assistant at the palaeontological institute. In 1956 he became associate professor and in 1967 associate professor of micropalaeontology.

In addition to micropalaeontology (microfauna and biostratigraphy of the tertiary ), he dealt with fossil molluscs and, in addition to the tertiary, also with the paleozoic and mesozoic of the Eastern Alps.

He worked on the tertiary volume in the Handbuch der Stratigraphische Geologie by Franz Lotze (Stuttgart 1959) and on the Treatise on Invertebrate Paleontology .
