Adolf Scheck (born February 27, 1951 in Achern ) is a German retail entrepreneur and was Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Edeka Group from 2010 to 2016 .

Life

After completing his retail training, Adolf Scheck joined the family business in 1969. The Scheck family opened their first grocery store in Achern, Baden, in 1946. In 1979 Adolf Scheck took over the management of the company. In the following years he opened four more grocery stores. In 1997, the first " Check-In Center" was built at the headquarters in Achern . In the next few years further centers were established in Karlsruhe-Durlach and Karlsruhe / Mendelssohnplatz, in Viernheim and Baden-Baden, in Weinheim and Mannheim as well as in Mannheim-Neckarau and Frankfurt. In 2014 the store in Viernheim was closed and a new one opened in Heidelberg. Furthermore, more are planned in Heidelberg and Mainz, the branch in Mainz will be the largest Edeka store in Germany when it opens in late 2016. In the meantime (June 2016) Scheck operates 13 branches / centers as an independent Edeka entrepreneur within the cooperative Edeka group.

Since 1986 Adolf Scheck was a member of the supervisory board of the Edeka regional company Southwest in Offenburg, most recently he was chairman. Since 2002 he was also represented on the supervisory board of the nationwide Edeka association, since January 18, 2010 in the position of chairman of the supervisory board. In 2016, Scheck left the board for reasons of age, and Uwe Kohler was elected as the new chairman on June 18 . Kohler then also took over as chairman of the supervisory board of Edeka Südwest Scheck.

The Scheck entrepreneurial family employs around 900 people in their stores, including 80 trainees. The check markets have been awarded numerous trading awards. In 2004, Adolf Scheck accepted the highest industry award, the “ Golden Sugar Loaf ”, for the entire company.

Scheck is married and has three daughters.
