Edeka Südwest is the second largest of seven regional companies in the Edeka Group, based in Offenburg . Your sales area includes Baden-Württemberg , Rhineland-Palatinate , Saarland , southern Hesse and parts of Bavaria . Edeka Südwest employs more than 44,000 people and around 3,100 trainees in 26 training professions and ten dual study programs (all information including independent retail). This makes it one of the largest employers and trainers in the region. The group of companies has around 1,200 stores in southern Germany .

The stores are divided into different store types and sales channels such as E center, Edeka, nah & gut, Union SB and Marktkauf, according to sales area and the number of items on offer.

history

On January 24, 1927, around twenty years after the founding of the Edeka Association and the Edeka head office, 26 merchants in Offenburg laid the wholesale colonial goods retailers' cooperative in Central Baden and thus the cornerstone of Edeka Südwest.

Since July 1, 2015, businessman Rainer Huber has been the spokesman for the management. In 2016, Uwe Kohler replaced Adolf Scheck as chairman on the supervisory board of Edeka Südwest, just like on the supervisory board of the nationwide Edeka group.

The company has five logistics operations: in Heddesheim, Ellhofen, Balingen, Offenburg and St. Ingbert. Edeka Südwest also has its own production facilities such as the meat and sausage processing companies of Edeka Südwest Fleisch and Schwarzwaldhof , the Frischkost company (fish and seafood), the K & U bakery (baked goods), the Ortenau wine cellar (wine) and the Black Forest mineral wells -Bubble .
