Central Baden is a not clearly delimited regional name in the Baden part of Baden-Württemberg . It is mainly used in the area of the Rastatt district , the Baden-Baden district and the Ortenau district . Before the district reform, it comprised the then urban district of Baden-Baden as well as the districts of Bühl , Kehl , Lahr , Rastatt , and Offenburg , including the district of Wolfach . Historic landscapes in the region are Ufgau and Ortenau .

In a broader sense, Mittelbaden is used as a region designation when the area between northern ( Mannheim and Rhine-Neckar area) and southern Baden ( Emmendingen , Freiburg , Lörrach and Konstanz ) is to be designated. Therefore, the term Mittelbaden can also include the regions of Karlsruhe , Pforzheim and the Enzkreis .
