The Historical Association for Mittelbaden eV is a history association in Baden-Württemberg .

activity

With over 3000 members and 30 member groups, it is one of the largest history societies in Germany. In ten specialist groups, experts meet on special historical topics such as archive and museum maintenance, monument preservation and archeology or the documentation of small monuments , frescoes , field names and dialect .

The club library with over 200 historical magazines and books is generally available in the handicraft museum in Kehl / Kork.

In the annual association yearbook Die Ortenau , essays on regional and local historical topics are published. It also contains an extensive review section .

The seat of the association is Offenburg , the district town of the Ortenau district .

history

From 1910 to 1914 the painter, sculptor and altar builder Franz Joseph Simmler (1846–1926) was the first chairman of the newly founded Historical Association for Central Baden, after which he was an honorary member of the association. He produced numerous illustrations for the club magazine Die Ortenau .
