history

The association was founded on March 24, 1974, a Sunday, by a founding committee in the village of Grießen in the Gasthaus Mange, initially as an association for history on the Upper Rhine in the presence of numerous guests and personalities, including the historians Günther Haselier , Franz Laubenberger ( Badische Heimat ) and Helmut Maurer , Herbert Berner from the Hegau history association , Herbert Tröndle , Peter Max Boppel, Hans Jakob Wörner , Fridolin Jehle and the two mayors Franz Schmid (Tiengen) and Friedrich Wilhelm Utsch (Waldshut). Congratulators were the chairperson G. Fellmann of the historical association of the Bad Zurzach district , Herbert Berner of the Hegau history association, Christian Martin Vortisch of the Markgräfler history association and Arthur Heiz of the Fricktalisch-Baden association for local history .

In Grießen there was already the Klettgauer Heimatverein under the chairmanship of Alois Nohl. The more than 100 participants elected Fritz Schächtelin as the first chairman. Co-founders were among others the local researchers Emil Müller-Ettikon , Hans Matt-Willmatt , Konrad Sutter, Hermann Oesterle, Ulrich Christoph Eipper and Heinz Voellner . After the Waldshut district had temporarily discontinued the Heimat am Hochrhein series of publications, the newly founded association took over the edition of the series, which had existed under Eugen Rombach and which the Waldshut district has been publishing annually since 1983 under the title of the Waldshut district yearbook . The members of the history association made numerous contributions to this. The association also publishes its own yearbook under the title Land between Hochhrein and Southern Black Forest - Contributions to the History of the Waldshut District . In addition, other topics of local history are also dealt with, such as geology, archeology or nature. The association also offers excursions, city tours and regular meetings.

In 1993 Manfred Dietenberger took over the chairmanship after Franz Schächtelin gave up the office after 20 years for reasons of age. Special mention should be made of the members and local researchers Paul Eisenbeis ( Görwihl local history museum ), Franz Falkenstein (geology), Herbert Fuchs (local history Hohentengen), Manfred Emmerich (Tiengen), Hubert Roth (Erzingen), Lucia van Kreuningen (Eggingen).

Works by the Hochrhein History Association, for example on the Wuhren in the Hotzenwald , the Salpeterer , the Küssaburg , the Klettgau , the Dangstetten Roman camp (which was discovered by the association's co-founder Alois Nohl), the peasant war , fossil finds and much more found their way into work at technical colleges where they were Sources are mentioned. The association has an archive and a library. There is a partnership with the Fricktalisch-Badische Vereinigung für Heimatkunde .
