Adolf Stebel
Adolf Stebel (born February 10, 1855 in Baden-Baden ; † 1926 ) was a German-Swiss architect and drawing teacher .
Life
Adolf Stebel studied in Germany , including architecture in Karlsruhe , and in France . From 1883 to 1886 he was a teacher at the drawing school for industry and trade in St. Gallen . Then he held the teaching position for ornamentation and style at the local trade museum . He also worked as an architect for the arts and crafts . Since 1893 he was naturalized in St. Gallen, and since 1898 married to the painter Elise Rüdin .
He campaigned for a moderate reform of professional and art drawing lessons. In 1895 his book, Introduction to Technical Drawing at Commercial Training Schools , was published with the help of K. Ebneter and H. Scheitlin. With Oskar Pupikofer and others, he published the book The Development of Art in Switzerland in 1914 .
