Adolf Wilhelm Baum (born March 12, 1891 in Berlin ; † March 20, 1977 there ) was a German painter , draftsman and graphic artist .

Life

Adolf Wilhelm Baum was born in Berlin on March 12, 1891. He was the son of a plasterer and painter from Berlin-Steglitz. He received his artistic training from Paul Friedrich Meyerheim at the Academy of Fine Arts . In the course of his career, the artist devoted himself to a wide range of different techniques such as watercolor painting , pencil, pen and sepia drawings, but above all drypoint and copperplate engraving . In addition to his artistic work, he repeatedly wrote articles for regional newspapers and illustrated books such as B. an edition of Hans Christian Andersen  - Selected fairy tales. Before the end of the war (1941) he fled Berlin with his family and lived in Poland until 1958. After his return to Berlin, Baum worked as an artist and was a member of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR . Wilhelm Baum died on March 20, 1977 in East Berlin.
