Adolf von Hertenstein (born October 11, 1802 in Neudorf ; † August 22, 1853 in Werthenstein ) was a Swiss lawyer and politician .

biography

Adolf von Hertenstein studied in Würzburg , Göttingen and Vienna law . In Göttingen he became a member of the Corps Helvetia in 1825. He completed his studies with a doctorate. iur. from.

As a lawyer he was Lucerne Cantonal Advocate from 1827 to 1829 (lawyer who may appear before all authorities). He went on to become a judge. From 1827 to 1830 he was district judge and deputy interrogator, from 1831 to 1836 appellate judge and in the periods from 1836 to 1841 and from 1847 to 1853 president of the criminal court.

As a politician, he was a member of the Committee for the Constitutional Review and, in 1831, the Constitutional Council of the Canton of Lucerne. From 1831 to 1841 and from 1847 to 1853 he was a liberal member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Lucerne. In 1832 he was the delegate of the Lucerne Parliament and in 1838 he was the federal representative in Schwyz. From 1832 to 1835 he was a member of the city council of Lucerne . From 1836 to 1841 he was an education councilor.

After the Sonderbund War , on November 26, 1847, he headed the citizens' assembly that proclaimed a provisional Lucerne government.
