Adolfo Doering

Adolfo Doering (born January 22, 1848 in Neuwaake near Göttingen as Adolf Döring; † February 19, 1925 in Capilla del Monte , Córdoba ) was a German-Argentine chemist , geologist and zoologist . His older brother was Oscar Döring .

Life

Adolfo Doering received his doctorate from the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen . In 1872 he went to Argentina in the wake of Hermann Burmeister , where he initially became the assistant to the chemist Hermann Siewert from Halle. Two years later his brother followed to Argentina. In 1875 he became an associate professor of organic chemistry at the National University of Cordoba . From 1892 to 1916 he also held the chair of zoology . As Siewert's successor, he became secretary of the Argentine Academy of Sciences . He dealt with mineral water analyzes and analyzes of salts from salt mines in Argentina and undertook geological studies in Patagonia .
