Adolph Baedeker

Adolph Baedeker (born November 24, 1810 in Essen , † October 4, 1906 in Honnef ) was a German publisher and bookseller .

He was the son of Gottschalk Diedrich Baedeker , who had set up a bookshop in Essen. For his part, Adolph founded bookshops in Rotterdam (1835 to 1850) and in Cologne (1844–1867). Baedeker married Johanna Bohn from Koblenz on May 27, 1851 (* March 16, 1839). His eldest brother was Karl Baedeker , the founder of the world-famous Baedeker travel guide , with whom he published various books and works of opinion.
