Adolph Christian von Bassewitz

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Count Adolph Christian von Bassewitz (* July 6, 1758 , † September 3, 1821 in Lübeck ) was a Mecklenburg landowner and canon of Lübeck.

Life

Adolph Christian Graf von Bassewitz came from the Wendish line of the old Mecklenburg family von Bassewitz ; he was the third son of Carl Friedrich Graf von Bassewitz , on Prebberede , Jahmen, Grieve, Wozeten and Wardow and his wife Marie Elisabeth von Lützow , widowed by Dorne . The Mecklenburg-Schwerin privy council president Bernhard Friedrich Graf von Bassewitz was his older brother, Joachim Otto Adolph Graf von Bassewitz his uncle.

At the age of six he received a prebend at Lübeck Cathedral on August 27, 1764 . The prebend was that of the late Johannes (Hans) von Brömbsen , who actually went to Friedrich Ludwig von Eyben , but who had waived in his favor.

In 1779 von Bassewitz became a royal Danish and in 1781 Mecklenburg-Schwerin Chamberlain. He served as a lieutenant in the (Danish) Guard.

When the cathedral chapter was secularized in the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss in 1803, like all canonicals existing at the time of secularization , it retained the associated privileges and income until the end of his life.

Adolph Christian Graf von Bassewitz remained unmarried and had no heirs. He had brought his fortune to zero. On December 25, 1788, he sold the estate he inherited from Grieve (now part of Prebberede ) in Mecklenburg to his brother Henning Friedrich, from whom it passed to Bernhard Friedrich von Bassewitz. Before that he was also a co-owner of Prebberede.
