Adolph Franz Carl Freiherr von Seckendorff , from 1816 Count von Seckendorff , (* October 30, 1742 ; † November 9, 1818 in Merseburg ) was a court official who was in the service of various gentlemen and was most recently the Royal Saxon Privy Council and director of the estates in the Merseburg Monastery , Royal British Chamberlain and Grand Cross bearer of the Royal Danish Order of Dannebrog as well as heir, feudal and court lord of Kölzen and Starsiedel.

Life

origin

He came from the Frankish noble family von Seckendorff , specifically the Gudent line. One of their representatives, the imperial field marshal Friedrich Heinrich Freiherr von Seckendorff (1673–1763), had been raised to the rank of imperial count, but had left no sons.

Career

Adolph Franz Carl Freiherr von Seckendorff embarked on an administrative career and entered the service of the Crown of Denmark , where he was appointed Chamberlain. As such, he had enough capital to buy his relative Ernst Anton Heinrich Freiherr von Seckendorff the indebted Kölzen manor , to which the village and Vorwerk Starsiedel also belonged, on July 31/12. To buy August 1783. As a result, Adolph Franz Carl Freiherr von Seckendorff became a supporter of a manor in the Merseburg monastery belonging to the Electorate of Saxony . The representatives of the estates of this territory elected him their director. He held this position until his death in 1818. At the Dresden court he was last titular Privy Councilor.

family

He was married to Amalie Sophie Elisabeth, nee Countess von Hardenberg (1767–1848). From this marriage five sons emerged, including the later Prussian Oberbergrat Carl von Seckendorff and the diplomat Theodor Franz Christian von Seckendorff .
