Adolphe Jean Hamesse (born February 26, 1849 in Brussels , † 1925 in Ixelles / Elsene ) was a Belgian landscape painter.

Hamesse studied at the Académie royale des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles with Paul Lauters and privately with Jean-Baptiste Meunier .

Hamesse exhibited his works from 1876 onwards at the three-year art exhibition in Antwerp. In 1875 he was a founding member of “L'Essor” together with Julien Dillens and Léon Herbo and, in 1892, a founding member of the artist group “Pour l'Art”. He was also a drawing inspector for the schools in Ixelles / Elsene . Under the influence of Hippolyte Boulenger , he worked in the second generation of the Tervuren School, where he painted the wooded areas according to the seasons. He also exhibited in Brussels and Ghent.

He was married to Marie (nee Dandois, † 1893) and the couple had four children: Georges (* 1874), Paul (1877–1956, became an architect), Léon (* 1883) and Hélène (* 1885).
