The Adolphfelsen is a rock formation in the Selketal in the district of Alexisbad in the Harz, which belongs to the town of Harzgerode in Saxony-Anhalt . A breakthrough carved into the rock is a listed building .

location

The rock is located north of Alexisbad on the eastern bank of the Selke . The breakthrough is registered as a ditch in the local monument register.

Design and history

A breakthrough was made through the base of the rock in historical times. It was part of the moat of the monastery mill . On the rock itself there is a cast iron plaque with the inscription ADOLPH . It is probably based on a foundation made by spa guests.
