Adreian Payne (born February 19, 1991 ) is an American basketball player .

career

Payne played basketball at Jefferson High School, Ohio, and Michigan State University from 2010 to 2014 . For Michigan State he played 138 games and came up with averages of 8.9 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. His statistically best season was 2013/14, when he scored 16.4 points and 7.3 rebounds per encounter.

In the NBA draft  , Payne was selected 15th by the Atlanta Hawks . Payne played three games for Atlanta and 29 games for the Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA in the 2014/15 season . For Minnesota he scored 7.2 points per game. He was also used in the NBA D-League, first for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants , then for the Austin Spurs .

In the 2015/16 game year he played 52 NBA games for Minnesota, and 18 additional NBA appearances were added in 2016/17. In August 2017 he signed a contract with the NBA team Orlando Magic , which also allowed him to play in the NBA G-League for Lakeland Magic  . In February 2018 Payne was signed by the Greek top club Panathinaikos Athens . At the beginning of the 2018/19 game year, he played for the Chinese club Nanjing Tongxi Monkey King, in January 2019 he returned to Panathinaikos, but remained a supplementary player as in his first term in Athens. Before the end of the 2018/19 season, he moved to the French first division club ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne . With ASVEL he became French champion in spring 2019 and then received a contract extension. To win the title, he had 9.9 points and 4.8 rebounds per game in twelve missions.

Payne took part in the 2013 Summer Universiade in Kazan , Russia, with the US selection .
