Adriaan Botha

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Adriaan Botha (born March 8, 1977 ) is a former South African sprinter who specialized in the 400-meter run .

By far the greatest success of his career was winning the bronze medal in the 4 x 400 meter relay at the 1999 World Athletics Championships in Seville . The South African team in the line-up Jopie van Oudtshoorn , Hendrick Mokganyetsi , Adriaan Botha and Arnaud Malherbe reached the goal in the national record time of 3: 00.20 minutes only as fourth. The originally victorious US relay team was subsequently disqualified for a doping offense by their runner Antonio Pettigrew , so that the South African quartet moved up one place in the ranking.

Botha started in Seville in the 400-meter run. There he was eliminated - as well as two years later at the World Athletics Championships in Edmonton in 2001 - already in the preliminary round.
