Jopie van Oudtshoorn (born February 5, 1976 ) is a former South African sprinter who specialized in the 400-meter run .

The most significant success of his career was winning the bronze medal in the 4 x 400 meter relay at the 1999 World Athletics Championships in Seville . The South African team in the line-up Jopie van Oudtshoorn, Hendrick Mokganyetsi , Adriaan Botha and Arnaud Malherbe reached the goal in the national record time of 3: 00.20 minutes only as fourth. The originally victorious US relay team was subsequently disqualified for a doping offense by their runner Antonio Pettigrew , so that the South African quartet moved up one place in the ranking. Van Oudtshoorn also started the 400-meter run in Seville, but was eliminated in the quarter-finals. A month earlier he had won the bronze medal at the Universiade in Palma de Mallorca over the same distance.
