Adrian Furtwängler

Adrian Furtwängler (born March 30, 1993 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German politician . From spring 2011 to 2012 he was one of the federal spokesmen for the Left Youth ['solid] , the youth association of the party Die Linke .

Life

Furtwängler grew up in Schallstadt in southern Baden. He attended the Rotteck-Gymnasium in Freiburg, where he graduated from high school in 2011. For several years he was active in the water polo department of the SSV Freiburg and won several titles in the youth field. Furtwängler studies law at the University of Potsdam .

Furtwängler joined the party Die Linke and its youth association Linksjugend ['solid] in 2008. He was involved in organizing the protests against the 2009 NATO summit in Kehl and Strasbourg and against the UN climate conference in Copenhagen . Within the Left Youth ['solid] he worked within the working group climate and is a co-founder of the working group Antimilitarismus und Frieden, of which he was spokesman until August 2011. Since 2009 he has also been active at Greenpeace and Viva con Agua .

Furtwängler was active in the organization of the southern blockade against the Castor transport in 2010 and supported the alliance "Castor? Schottern!" He campaigns against visits by youth officers to schools and for a consistent disarmament of the Bundeswehr and works actively in the peace alliance against the Afghanistan conference in Bonn in 2011. Furtwängler also advocates better participation opportunities for young people, such as B. the right to vote from 16 and organized an initiative for a Freiburg youth committee. At the Federal Congress of Left Youth ['solid] in Hanover, Furtwängler was elected to the Federal Council of Speakers with 86% of the valid votes. He was re-elected at the 2012 Federal Congress in Berlin-Wedding. In 2012 he was one of the supporters of Blockupy Frankfurt and was involved in the organization. He was also involved in the preparations for the actions on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Rostock-Lichtenhagen pogrom .
