Adrian Ruiz

Adrian Ruiz (born November 17, 1937 in Los Angeles ) is an American pianist .

Life

Ruiz studied at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia with Rudolf Serkin and Mieczysław Horszowski , and later at the University of Southern California in his hometown of Los Angeles. As a result, he won numerous awards, including a prize at the Busoni Competition (1968), the Michaels Memorial Award, the Kimber Award and the Young Musicians Foundation Award. He also took 1st place at the Concurso de piano Ciudad de Montevideo (1969).

For many years he was the chairman of the piano department at the University of Southern California and was particularly committed to little-known or forgotten works of German Romanticism. In addition, he made numerous tours through the USA , South America and Europe .
