from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Adriana López-Arbarello (* in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine vertebrate biologist and palaeontologist . Since 2006 she has been working as a research assistant at the Bavarian State Collection for Paleontology and Geology in Munich on various projects, primarily on the evolution of different fish groups.

Career

López-Arbarello completed a degree in biology at the Universidad de Buenos Aires in 1993 with a Licenciatura (diploma) and received his doctorate there in 1999 . From 1999 to 2000 she worked on a DAAD scholarship at the Museum für Naturkunde at the Humboldt University in Berlin and from 2000 to 2002 as part of a postdoctoral fellowship from the Argentine CONICET at the Universidad de Buenos Aires.

During maternity leave, she volunteered at the Museo Paleontológico Egidio Feruglio in Trelew (Argentina) from 2002 to 2003 , at the Berlin Natural History Museum from 2003 to 2004 and at the Bavarian State Collection in 2005, where she was employed as a research assistant in 2006.

Research areas

López-Arbarello deals with the evolution of the Semionotiformes , an important group of Mesozoic fish, and other basal neopteries (Neopterygii), as well as with fish faunas from the Upper Jura of the southern German plate limestone and with Upper Jurassic Chondrostei from South America.

Prior to her time in Munich she has two of the oldest known Percomorphen , Saldenioichthys and Indiaichthys , as well as several fish from the Triassic of Argentina described . In 2012 she described the Semionotiformes family Callipurbeckiidae with the type genus Callipurbeckia and the pike-like fish Scheenstia - both from the basal Neuflosser group Ginglymodi - as well as, together with Oliver Rauhut, the Upper Jurassic lizard Oenosaurus , a close relative of today's bridge lizards .
