Adrien Dollfus

Adrien Frédéric Jules Dollfus (born March 21, 1858 in Dornach near Mulhouse , † November 19, 1921 in Paris ) was a French zoologist. His research interests were crustaceans and trilobites .

Life

Adrien Dollfus was the grandson of the Alsatian factory owner Jean Dollfus (1800–1887), cousin of Gustave Frédéric Dollfus and a relative of the parasitologist Robert-Philippe Dollfus (1887–1976). After completing his studies and graduating with a bachelor's degree, he devoted himself to research on crustaceans (especially woodlice ) and trilobites . In 1870 he founded the publication La Feuille des jeunes naturalistes. In 1888 he married Anna Noémie Schlumberger in Paris. From this marriage there were three children. In 1876 he became a member of the Société zoologique de France and from 1912 to 1913 he was president of this society.

Dollfus bequeathed his collections of crustaceans and trilobites, which he brought back from the Hawaiian Islands, Africa and Sicily , to the Elbeuf Museum .

One of the first descriptions of scientific Dollfus include several Assel genera, including Stenasellus , Stenociscus , Haedropleura , Odostomella , Mitrolumna , Trophonopsis , Muricopsis , Faucheria , Columbellopsis , Mesarmadillo , Synarmadillo , Ambounia and Caecosphaeroma .
