Systematics

The dainty stone purse ( Aethionema coridifolium ) is a species from the genus of the stone purse ( Aethionema ). It is assigned to the Aethionemeae tribe in the family of the cruciferous plants (Brassicaceae) . The species was first validly described scientifically in 1821 by Augustin Pyramus de Candolle . The generic name Aethionema comes from the Greek and is derived from aethes for "unusual" and nema for "thread". He thus refers to the unusual arrangement of the stamens, which are winged on the inside. The specific epithet coridifolium is derived from Coris , the generic name of the gooseberry, and folium , Latin. for flaky off.

use

The dainty stone purse is rarely used as an ornamental shrub because of its flowers .
