Agathia laetata is a butterfly fromthe Spanner family (Geometridae)found in Asia.

The moths reach a wingspan of 31 to 36 millimeters. The wing tops show a striking grass-green color. The front edge of the forewings has a light gray, the outer edge a black-gray color and forks at the apex Y-shaped. From the middle of the front edge of the forewings a very short comma-like sign points towards the middle of the wing. The outer and inner edges of the hind wings are bordered with a black-gray band, but a green area stands out in the middle of the outer edge. There are short, pointed, black-gray tails near the anal angle .

Similar species

Moths of the genus Agathia that are similar in color , including Agathia quinaria, differ in an additional narrow light brown transverse line on the upper side of the forewing that runs through the disk region .

distribution and habitat

The range of Agathia laetata includes India , Indonesia , Thailand , Malaysia , southern China , Japan and Taiwan . The main habitat are lowland forests and mountain areas at low and medium altitudes.

Way of life

The moths can be found in all months of the year, mainly in March / April, July and November. The caterpillars feed on the leaves of dog poison plants (Apocynaceae) or silk plants (Asclepiadoideae). Further details on the species' way of life have yet to be explored.
