Johann Friedrich Preisig

Johann Friedrich Preisig (born April 25, 1787 in Schwellbrunn ; † January 22, 1837 in Bühler ; resident in Schwellbrunn) was a Swiss entrepreneur and publicist from the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden .

Life

Johann Friedrich Preisig was a son of Hans Jakob Preisig, an impoverished farmer , and Anna Schweizer. In 1811 he married Anna Katharina Alder, daughter of Johannes Alder. He first worked as a weaver . From about 1811 he was working in a newly built mechanical spinning in Schönengrund . He headed it from around 1814 to 1820. Then he was head of a spinning mill in Bühler. He represented the radical democratic forces in Appenzell Ausserrhoden. In 1831 he served as an auditor. In the years 1835 and 1836 he sat in the small council . From 1836 to 1837 he was a councilor and clerk for Bühler. In 1824 he acted as the founder of the Sparkasse Bühler. In 1827 he founded a reading group . In 1832 he was a founding member of the Appenzell Charitable Society . He presided over it from 1836 to 1837. From 1815 he wrote numerous magazine articles as well as a community history of Bühler.
